The web and blog world is full of 365 projects where people decide that for a year they will do something every day: take a photo of themselves, paint a picture, donate to charity etc.
Here are a few simple ideas for little habits you can do every day for a year to make you a bit more creative:
- Let someone else draw a stripe or doodle on a piece of paper and then make a drawing from that.
- Look up what happened on that same day in the year you were born.
- Take a picture of a cloud.
- Take a picture of the same place on your way to work.
- Take the dictionary and pick a word. Make a drawing for that word each day.
- Draw a heart or smiley on your arm. Take a picture.
- Make a voucher a day for something you do (babysitting, massage, etc) and give it to someone.
- Say thank you to a person.
- Hang up an inspirational quote or message in a random place (like the bathroom at work).
- Start each day by saying ‘Today will be a great day.’
- Write a quote on a post-it note and hang it in a random place. Look here for inspiration.
- Weed out your bookcases and give away a book a day (via bookcrossing for example)
- Write a postcard a day and send it via snail mail (with postcrossing for example)
- Write a poem each day.
- Give to charity each day (example).
- Learn a new word each day (here).
- Make something of a hanger every day.
- Try a different tea each day.
- Teach someone something.
- Throw something out (you can also sell it on eBay or marketplace).
- Get a daily planner notebook and draw/write in it every day.
- Watch a different movie or short film each day.
- Do something ‘green’.
- Wear something different every day. Or wear something blue/green/yellow….
- Try a different exercise/sport (here’s a list of every sport in the world)
- Exercise every day.
- Read a post from a different blog.
- Order something small from etsy.
- Put the coins from your wallet in a bucket at the end of every day. See how much you got at the end of the year and decide what to do with it.
- Play the lottery every day.
- Learn the capital of a different country each day.
- Pick the 3rd word of the 6th line of the 5th page of a daily newspaper. At the end of the year, write a story with the collected words.
- Write what you’re grateful about every day (worksheet).
- Craft something every day.
- Make a different origami.
- Make something out of a toilet roll.
- Meditate.
- Bake a pie.
- Try to get something for free (this guy went from a paperclip to a house).
- Plant something.
- Count the steps that you take.
- Take a photo of something you’re grateful for every day.
- Make a bucket list: add one thing every day that you want to do before you die. The year after you can start doing them!
- Listen to a different opera song.
- Write your name in a different way.
- Try a different yoga pose.
- Cook a different recipe (like Julie).
- Do a crossword puzzle.
- Photograph the same object (a gnome, your wallet…) in a different location.
- Come up with one creative project like these for each of the calendar days…
