The web and blog world is full of 365 projects where people decide that for a year they will do something every day: take a photo of themselves, paint a picture, donate to charity etc.

Here are a few simple ideas for little habits you can do every day for a year to make you a bit more creative:

  1. Let someone else draw a stripe or doodle on a piece of paper and then make a drawing from that.
  2. Look up what happened on that same day in the year you were born.
  3. Take a picture of a cloud.
  4. Take a picture of the same place on your way to work.
  5. Take the dictionary and pick a word. Make a drawing for that word each day.
  6. Draw a heart or smiley on your arm. Take a picture.
  7. Make a voucher a day for something you do (babysitting, massage, etc) and give it to someone.
  8. Say thank you to a person.
  9. Hang up an inspirational quote or message in a random place (like the bathroom at work).
  10. Start each day by saying ‘Today will be a great day.’
  11. Write a quote on a post-it note and hang it in a random place. Look here for inspiration.
  12. Weed out your bookcases and give away a book a day (via bookcrossing for example)
  13. Write a postcard a day and send it via snail mail (with postcrossing for example)
  14. Write a poem each day.
  15. Give to charity each day (example).
  16. Learn a new word each day (here).
  17. Make something of a hanger every day.
  18. Try a different tea each day.
  19. Teach someone something.
  20. Throw something out (you can also sell it on eBay or marketplace).
  21. Get a daily planner notebook and draw/write in it every day.
  22. Watch a different movie or short film each day.
  23. Do something ‘green’.
  24. Wear something different every day. Or wear something blue/green/yellow….
  25. Try a different exercise/sport (here’s a list of every sport in the world)
  26. Exercise every day.
  27. Read a post from a different blog.
  28. Order something small from etsy.
  29. Put the coins from your wallet in a bucket at the end of every day. See how much you got at the end of the year and decide what to do with it.
  30. Play the lottery every day.
  31. Learn the capital of a different country each day.
  32. Pick the 3rd word of the 6th line of the 5th page of a daily newspaper. At the end of the year, write a story with the collected words.
  33. Write what you’re grateful about every day (worksheet).
  34. Craft something every day.
  35. Make a different origami.
  36. Make something out of a toilet roll.
  37. Meditate.
  38. Bake a pie.
  39. Try to get something for free (this guy went from a  paperclip to a house).
  40. Plant something.
  41. Count the steps that you take.
  42. Take a photo of something you’re grateful for every day.
  43. Make a bucket list: add one thing every day that you want to do before you die. The year after you can start doing them!
  44. Listen to a different opera song.
  45. Write your name in a different way.
  46. Try a different yoga pose.
  47. Cook a different recipe (like Julie).
  48. Do a crossword puzzle.
  49. Photograph the same object (a gnome, your wallet…) in a different location.
  50. Come up with one creative project like these for each of the calendar days…
